About Us

My name is Monique and I am the owner/operator of MKN Studio. I started crocheting in 2012 and sold to family and friends through word of mouth and social media (under YoungGrandmaCrochet). After I finished my bachelor’s degree in October 2020, I took advantage of my free time and the selling platforms that Instagram and Facebook came to be, and took my handmade business even further. I began to brand my work and also took on knitting. When the weather was getting hot and my wrists began to ache, I took a turn and began making t-shirts to go along with my crochet and knit items and MKN quickly turned into what it is today: Bay Area streetwear.

I'd like to give a shout out to my mom, Jessica. It is not just me behind the scenes! She has been extremely helpful in my endeavors from investing in my first yarn haul to coming to every pop up with me and helping me the night before to prep. I couldn't do this without her! 

Today, I am balancing a full-time job, pursuing my MBA, training for fire, and serving in the military all while tending to MKN. I hope you know you are making a great impact on my well-being and dreams both inside and outside of MKN. I am continually thanking you for your support!
